You are probably familiar with Airbnb. The online marketplace that enables people to list, find, and rent vacation homes. The idea is to not just visit a new destination, but to experience your destination as if you lived there.

Since being founded, Airbnb has grown tremendously.  The company is valued at $20 billion, twice the valuation of Hyatt and roughly equal to Marriott. Ironically, it has more rooms listed than any hotel company. It has over 1,500,000 listings in 34,000 cities and 191 countries. Amongst those listing, are these interesting and unique Airbnb rentals.

1.) Turtle Lair

If you grew up watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, staying at the lair will be a dream come true. Although, they are currently all booked, you never know when additional days may be added. It’s only $10/night in New York, with pizza included, and a portion of your money goes to PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center.



2.) Netflix & Chill 

Yes, a Netflix & Chill room does exist, and you could book it for $400/night in New York. The room includes a fully stacked mini bar, an HD projector connected with the new AppleTV and Netflix account (Duh!), surround sound speakers, and a beautiful rooftop view of New York.

3.) Castle

Live out your Game of Throne fantasies in this castle for $149/night in Ireland. One of the things the listing mentions is to remember that the castle is over 600 years old, which means it’s not perfect. Also, castles were never designed with bathrooms and showers, so they’ve improvised.

4.) Private Island

Book your private island in Cartagena, Colombia for $464/night. The private island is 10,000 square foot villa fully furnished, including a 700 sq.ft. great room filled with hammocks. There are 4 bedrooms all with ocean views and air conditioning (each room has multiple beds for up to 25 people) and 4 bathrooms each with its own shower. Domestic service and 24 hour security is included. 


5.) Saddle Up! 

Always wanted to be a cowboy? The “Love Nest” is a barn located in Morongo Valley, Ca, and you may rent a room for $137/night. The barn is 20 – 30 minutes away from Joshua Tree National Park, Pioneer Town, Cabazon shopping, Palm Springs, The PS.Tram, Gambling Casinos, Hiking in Covington Park, Horse back riding, tons of restaurants and more. Massages and facials are also available by special request.

6.) Airplane

Spend your vacation in an airplane for $102/night in St. Michel Chef Chef, France. Check out where the toilet is located.


7.) The SeaShell House 

This unique SeaShell House is located in Isla Mujeres, Cancun for $308/night. The residential area is on a cliff side of the tiny island to allow privacy. You are not in the middle of all the tourists but you could get to the most beautiful beaches easily by golf cart or taxi.


Designed by Kisho Kurokawa in 1972, Nakagin Capsule Tower located in Japan is a rare built example of Japanese Metabolism, a movement that became emblematic of Japan’s postwar cultural resurgence. Although you can’t stay at tower, you could stay near it and visit for $150/night.
