Star Trek Beyond, the highly anticipated next installment in the globally popular Star Trek Franchise, created by Gene Roddenberry and reintroduced by J.J. Abrams in 2009, returns with director Justin Lin (The Fast and the Furious franchise) at the helm of this epic voyage of the U.S.S. Enterprise and her intrepid crew. In Beyond, the Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.
The Start Trek Franchise is known for its visionary depictions of future space exploration, and for this reason we sat down with Benjamin Dickow, President and Executive Director of the Columbia Memorial Space Center, who says that just like Star Trek, the center celebrates science and inspires people of all ages.
The Columbia Memorial Space Center is a space museum and learning center that serves as NASA’s official tribute to the astronauts lost during the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster in 2003. There are several unique pieces from an antique astronaut suit, the real apollo 13 table, a historic satellite model, a NASA simulator, and even a robotics course.
Currently, the Columbia Memorial Space Center is inviting guest to participate in their Rocket Fever event taking place on August 20, 2016. It’s Los Angeles first and only urban urban rocket festival. You can build, fly, and learn about rockets. You may visit them here for more information.
STAR TREK BEYOND is in theaters July 22, 2016
